In neighborhoods across Long Island, the number of individuals going to sleep hungry is growing rapidly with no clear end in sight. From children to seniors, approximately 259,000 Long Islanders don’t get good, nutritious food to get them through the next day. The need for a solution is substantial, and our agency wants to make every effort to ensure no individual struggles to put food on their table; however, we can’t do it alone. For this reason, we will dedicate our newest Cause Campaign to support individuals and families facing food insecurity through the Island Harvest Food Bank.
Island Harvest Food Bank is a nonprofit organization that works with a network of community partners to provide food assistance to those in need. Founded in 1992, IHFB is a member of Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization.
Members of this noble nonprofit make tremendous strides to reduce hunger by soliciting and distributing food using educational tools, advocacy, and partnerships. Since its inception, IHFB has distributed millions of pounds of food to thousands of Long Islanders struggling with food insecurity.
